Two OUSC Teams Take League Crowns

Two Oceanside United Soccer Club teams captured their division titles in the recently completed Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) fall season.

The Girls U12 Shooting Stars, coached by Sean McNeil, Seamus Flannery and Dawn Deangelo, were undefeated (8 wins - 1 Tie – 0 Losses) taking 25 of 27 points in league play. They allowed only one goal to be scored against them for the entire season. Players on the team are: Deanna Altamura, Allison Brooks, Vanessa Cornaccio, Ashley Davis, Maria Deangelo, Laura Farrell, Kara Grace Flannery, Gabrielle Gonzalea, Malissa Horan, Stephanie Keane, Kaitlyn Meagher, Samantha Raimundo, Danielle Rossi, Mackenzie Russo, Kelsey Sheinberg and Samantha Stein.

The Girls U14 Power captured the GU15 Division 1 crown, a particularly impressive accomplishment against one year older top competition. The Power, coached by Adrian Arana and Mike Costelloe, captured 20 of a possible 27 league points (only loss), while tallying the most goals scored (30) of any team in the division. Members of the team include; Natali Arana, Natasha Arana, Sarah Boucher, Ashley Castanio, Stephanie Costelloe, Amy Delloiacono, Hollie Dimuro, Helen Fields, Emily Heneghan, Meghan McCarty, Katelyn McGrath, Emily Meyer, Karina Rizzo, Rosie Vita, Molly Werner, Jessica Opatich, Juliana Speroni and Tess Ytuarte.

Three teams also took second place finishes in their respective divisions. They were; Boys U11 Cyclone Force (19 pts.), Boys U12 Renegades (16 pts.) and Boys U13 Jaguars (19 pts.)

The Long Island Junior Soccer League features competition for travel teams from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties and Queens , NY . The Oceanside United Soccer Club fielded 28 teams (boys and girls ages 10-17) during the LIJSL fall season with half of them finishing fourth place or higher in their respective divisions.
