At U-11 we move to a larger field - i.e. 20 - 30 yards longer and 15 - 20 yards wider - and a larger number of players on the field at any one time - i.e. 9 v 9.  The “build-out lines” that were present in the younger age groups, are removed and punting by the goalkeeper becomes a new feature in the game. The program is designed to encourage the continued development of players as they approach full-sided - i.e. 11 v 11 - soccer at U-13.

Program Frequency:

A total of 12 weeks of training will take place in each of the Fall and Spring seasons. This will result in a total of 24 weeks of training over the season year. There will be two practice sessions (duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes each) and one scrimmage (duration 1 hour and 15 minutes) per week. The scrimmages may be intersquad (Oceanside U-11 players only) or against club teams from neighboring towns. On-field instruction will be given during the 9v9 scrimmage, as a means of assisting players to adapt to the new rules that arise at U-11, such as the larger field and changing team formations due to the larger number of players on the field.

All training is overseen by our Training Partner - Showtime Soccer.

In addition, all players will participate on an OUSC team within the Long Island Junior Soccer League and the Long Island Cup, playing against club teams from other towns on Long Island.

Our players continue to grow in the 9v9 match model, with heading now being introduced into the game. Again, the training aspect of the program is designed to encourage the continued development of the players and lead them into the full-sided 11v11 play that occurs at U-13.

Program Frequency:

A total of 12 weeks of training will take place in each of the Fall and Spring seasons. This will result in a total of 24 weeks of training over the season year. There will be two practice sessions (duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes each) per week.
